I want to build one. My mod will be have both collection tube entrances run to the same side thus collecting worms that crawl both clockwise and counter clockwise around the bin. Probably doesn't matter.

What do you do for a egg laying place?

Hey Tarvus,

Thanks for the comment. I think your suggestion is a good one. I considered running the pipe straight down through the middle of the bin, but I was worried that if the seal around the pipe wasn't good enough that the liquid from the bin would flow down the outside edges of the tube and drown the harvested larvae. A few solutions to this might be to use the flexible pipe like the BioPod and create a drip loop or angle the bin so that all the liquid goes to one side rather than to the middle of the bin. If you end up building one, let me know how it goes and I would love to post pictures and your results on the blog.

Hey Resplore,
Love your website! Your DIY BSFL composter is quite ingenious! I like the way you kept the exit tube centered in the bin!

I may build one similar just to play with the idea. The one change I may try is to have the exit tube go straight down thru the center and out the bottom rather than the final 90 degree elbow and lateral exit tube. That way I can rest the entire bin on top of a collection bucket and have the grubs drop straight down.

It will be interesting to compare surface area and harvest rate against my BioPod and DIY bucket bin. Thanks for the link to your website! (Hey, I grow and make my own chipotle peppers too by the way!)
